Titans of Mavericks Kickoff dinner
Gwen and I were invited to the kickoff dinner for the Titans of Mavericks competition at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay, CA on 19 Oct 2014. Fabulous place, meal, and gathering!

At the dinner, several of the committee5 who make up the advisory board for the event spoke as well as a spokeperson for the Monterey Bay Aquarium-the environmental sponsor-Griffing Guess and Brian Waters from Cartel-Management and others. I was struck by the humility of the surfers who spoke and honored to hear Jeff Clark who was the first person to surf Mavericks, and the only person for many years until he was able to convince others that it was a real place with really huge waves on occasion.

Also part of the proceedings was the draw for starting positions of the 20+ invited surfers.
