Arrival at the dreaded nine-mile exit. (Gwen lost a tire down this nasty quarter mile stretch of rocky road.)

The sign announcing the site for Burning Man has been getting classier in recent years. Obviously done by cnc macine, this year's sin is a beaut!

Early week (wednesday?) and the man is being assembled. The first walking man!

Being out early means being able to see the art unfinished and often visit the artist. I never did come back and see this piece during the event-I'm sure I'll see someone else's pic of it eventually.

Peter Hudson has done it again! and it is kinda obvious that he is working in a space occupied by artistits who make BIG steel art pieces. The year's zoetrope has a pretty massive mounting frame!

I wonder if Peter has thought about making interchangeable rotors for this piece-make a new movie without having to re-create a new superstructure.

I never saw this fully working with the strobe lights on and working. I'm guessing that I will have a chance to see it at some time in the future.

Pretty amazing Temple this year.

I kept spreading the rumor that the towers were out of plumb. ("Too bad they couldn't build the tower plumb. See how the towers are leaning?")

Panorama (of previous 3 images) of the backside of the Temple-where the crew lives pre-event.

From the makers of last year's 'Bliss Dancer'. Without the perforated stainless steel skin, it is much easier to see the internal structure. Not as finished, but focuses on the gorgeous welding job.

The artist was painting one of the 200+ programmable full spectrum light housings. He told me of programmer still at work back in the Bay that will allow him to do amazing night lightin effects including mapping video on the grils interior.
Never saw it at night!

From Great Britan-they bring 200+ umbellas, recordings of the sounds of rain, and lighting to simulate rain at night.

At their suggetion, I wrote on one of the umbrellas-named it after Just Gwen.
