Full Size Wire Trumpet

Made of 3/16" copper coated steel wire, bent by hand and securely brazed. The valve buttons are made of pennies, brazed to slightly thinner wire, with springs that allow the valves to be depressed. On some of them, one of the button/pennies are engraved with the last name of the artist (That's me! - Bob Marzewski). The completed trumpets were then electroplated with a thick coating of hard and shiny nickel.

These are very strongly built trumpets patterned after and the same size as the Besson 2-20 trumpet I took the measurements from. Each required approximately 35 hours to create.

Created in 1985-6, only 15 of these trumpets were hand made and nine were given as gifts or sold at that time. The 6 remaining trumpets are now up for sale. Each trumpet is unique and there are slight differences in each, see list below the photos for those differences.

The mouth piece is not attached; it can be removed to allow it to fit into a trumpet case (not included.) I have only a few mouthpieces available as options at an additional cost. Those mouthpieces I do have are of varied style-use your favorite mouthpiece, it will fit in the standard size opening.

  6. Pennies dated 197? -after nickel plating this one was brass plated obscuring the date. (There is some variation in the coloring, the brass has tarnished lightly over the past 15 years.) This is the only one I ever plated in brass.
